Sturdy device. I drilled two small holes behind the sponge to loop two retaining wires to hold the sponge in place. I just got fed up replacing the sponge which is inclines to slip about. Otherwise it's good value.

The base of this stand is too light and it often falls over. The price is competitive, but bearing in mind that the idea was to stop me burning my table, it failed. Unless great care is taken, the weight of the soldering iron plus the cable will pull the whole stand over. Spend a little more and get something with a heavy base. Alternatively, be prepared to screw it down to a heavier base.

Seems to to hold the iron well also well engineered for the job

I have knocked around the electronics game for a long time, just got back into it and thought I would get a few bits. Maybe it's because I have used pro ones that makes this seem so cheap. I probably would have rated it better if they had at least made a proper indent for the sponge to sit, instead the sponge is just too thin and the indent is stupid. It will require cutting the metal and making a better sponge holder. Or maybe I will just go and by a proper one.

Perfectly fine quality and does the job. Only issue is the sponge pad isn’t attached to the frame but easily fixed with some double sided tape to stop it sliding around
