Its important to note that the exhaust is designed specifically for a 'pre-facelift' Mini r53. In June 2004 or around then BMW added the post facelift Mini r53, amongst other things they change the exhaust mountings. The exhaust mountings on the centre pipewill need to be cut to size to fit a facelift r53's centre hanger and you will only be able to use one of the rear muffler mountings as the inside hanger faces in a completely different direction on the facelift r53. One of the ways of telling if you have a pre-facelift car that is compatible with this exhaust without modification is to check your centre reverse light. The pre-facelift ones are white and the facelift ones are red. My car is just in for its MOT so I'll update if it passes!

Nice exhaust, looks well made and bolts together nice, some fettling is required as stated in other reviews, I have a 2004 facelift r53 and had to cut down the centre pipe mounts by 15 mm also had to remove the inner mount bracket on the rear boxes as they face the wrong way and rub, but dont let that put you off, this exhaust sounds lush not to boy racer just a nice burble, it pops and bangs on the overrun which sounds great and best of all no nasty drone when driving.

It's noisy! Boy racer types and those not wanting to admit their gathering years will love it - I would have done 15 years ago but as I approach the big 5-0 It's a little embarrassing! This will be the same for any non-resonated setup so it's not a fault, just a characteristic. The previous Scorpion system was the same and I had a silencer custom fitted which fixed it. You may like to add £85 or so to your budget to do the same. The one push fit connection was tight - very tight. I couldn't get the sections to seat enough to stop the back boxes pushing up against the inside of the rear bumper so had to cut about an inch off the end of one pipe section to make it fit. There is no adjustment on the back boxes due to the connection to the Y piece being 'bolt up' and not a clamped joint - which gave an easily achieved, leak free joint. The front section has hangers that on my 2003 car had to be cut to shorten them so they would fit in the tunnel under the car. I then had to use some old hanger rubbers to fill the space between the stops on the pipe so that it stays hanging central. I assume it's sized for the post facelift cars. These are all minor issues that are very easily resolved, especially if you have it fitted by an exhaust centre as they would do the cuts in minutes. Overall it took me about 2 hours to complete the fit on my drive because I had to keep taking it out to make the cuts etc and couldn't do it in situ. I prefer this item to the Scorpion I had on it as there is only 1 clamped joint (2 joints cracked on the Scorpion and broke hence the need to replace it) and it's worth the effort/cutting to fit. We'll worth the £200 even if you have to pay someone to fit it and add a silencer.Read full review

Exhaust is very well made. Excellent quality even better than allot of bespoke systems. Quickly arrived and well packaged. The center pipe hangers do need cutting down by a fair bit to fit in the tunnel even on my pre facelift r53. But this is a 2 second job and the rest is just bolt on. Sounds deeper and louder than stock as no centre box. So be mindful of that.

As to be expected required some fettling to fit but sounds meaty and bolted together like a dream when all said and done!
