There are few really good trek games - but it's hard to put TV trek into games - action and shooting rule the day normally and this is no different - story elements are carried by voice over segments and the story line is okay. However the fighter action simply doesn't feel very trek and you can't do any trek-tech tricks. It's do the task in the time limit or fail. The various ships on offer have some limited variation in performance but nothing special. At a bargain price it's an okay game to tinker with but doesn't offer a 'must finish' 'must replay' feeling. A fun amusement though

since there are only a handful of spaceship shooters on the ps2, if you're collecting them all, you probably don't need a review. however if you only want the best one, then you might as well know this probably isn't it. i'm only half way through the game, but already, as there isn't much to it, and find the gameplay limited and repetitive. each level is much the same with a couple of big ships and numerous small ships to deal with. there's no sense of going anywhere as all the action is brought to you waiting in space. you get all the usual free-flight dogfighting fun, but without the design depth and polish of other titles. you would enjoy star treck invasion on the PS1 better, or indeed the excellent colony wars series on the PS1. here's my top PS2 space shooter chart so far: 1: battlestar galactica (5 stars) 2: star wars starfighter and jedi starfighter (4 stars) 3: defender (4 stars) 4: Star Trek Shattered Universe (3 stars) hope that helped.Read full review
after reading online reviews about this game i was looking forward to playing it but its very hard to get to grips with , you will need large amounts of patience to master even the most basic of moves... Which is one reason why i'm going to be selling it on EBAY|!!
