Not a great film. Funny in parts with a particularly good performance by Dennis Farino as the over-possessive (creepily so) father of the girlfriend along with a couple of smirky one-liners and a reasonable soundtrack, but on the whole the two main characters were so annoyingly stupid that it made me reach for my foam-rubber brick to hurl at the TV. I do wish that script writers would wake up and realise that stupid is NOT really funny - at least not to anyone with a modicum of intelligence. Stupid can OCCASIONALLY be funny but it very quickly becomes annoying, especially when the stupid card is overplayed. Unfortunately though, stupid is easier for lazy writers and dumb audiences to cope with and the US has always had a great quantity of both these types of simian. On the whole, this is a "background chatter" film - bung it on the box when you are reading a book, making a sandwich of doing your laundry - the story is fairly predictable (with one notable twist at the very end) and is the kind of thing you can tune in and out of. Better yet - save your money and get something else.Read full review
