Having enjoyed Sum 41s step in a heavier direction on 'Does this look infected?', I decided to give this one a shot. It continues in the same vein as Infected (moving perhaps even further from their pop-punk roots) but not quite as successfully. There are still some great stand-out tracks on here, but it feels like the band are starting to take themselves just a little too seriously. That is more forgivable than some of the emulation going on here though. Listening to the album through for the first time, it all seems very familiar. And that's because it will be if you've ever listened to early Metallica, Iron Maiden, Papa Roach, System of a Down or any other number of groups whose riffs seem to have been shamelessly lifted and dropped in to these tracks. Yes, they're catchy and sometimes fun, but it's all been done better elsewhere; dust off your old metal collection and make a compilation CD - you'll have a similar result and feel a bit less cheated.Read full review
Sum 41 are my favourate band, but in this album the band have gone through an early mid-life crisis. In Kerrang! rock magazine they said 'we look stupid being kids singing punk songs when were in our 20s'. This is why the album has a metal twist, but very over-dominatingly punk. The album is great still, but the change of Sum41 has let me down. I would still reccmend it.
I like this CD because its got a few of my favourite Sum 41 songs on, such as Pieces and Angels with dirty faces, its a good cd, i bought it just after id been to see Sum 41 live, and i thought id but it to add to my collection of cds, its a good cd!
