Why the purchase? Required an upgrade from Newmarks. Why 1210’s? 1210 legendary – pure & simple. Extremely popular unit, easy to find repairers & parts for maintenance. The units keep their price reasonably well – but are not too expensive when new, so all-round they make good value. Why mark 3? Mark 5 is more money, however not a lot more for your money (pitch?). What you get with mark 5’s is they are generally newer, so if you want newer, then 5’s may be the way to go. Mark 2’s tend to be slightly cheaper & don’t hold their value as well as the 3’s. That said, many, many units are lovingly cared for. Some units only ever see bedroom use & never make it into a set of flight cases. What’s good? Bullet-proof. Bearings & motor pretty tough. Easy to play around with. Changing needles/cartridges fairly straightforward. Customisable – parts readily available at shops, online or the Bay. Not so good? Pretty heavy. Lights can break – but easily fixed. But that’s about it. Does the 1210 range have any real challengers? Like everything, it's horses for courses - but higher end kit will pull a higher premium. Many DJ's make a decent living out of these machines. By way of what the product is, pretty much every seller knew his stuff & were real helpful. I chased about 10 sets before capturing one, (due to circumstances not being able to pick up). Don’t be afraid to ask questions / email / call (if there’s a number). Happy hunting!Read full review
This is the best dj turntable. I prefer this instead of the newer models which have options which a normal house dj doesn't need. Such a pity Panasonic discontinued them this year so get it before they raise their prices.
smooth and efficient easy to use, all the trimmings of the mk2's just subtle extras to make better, a faultless bit of kit
