By the time we got to X-Files season 7, it felt like it had ran its course and exhausted every possible avenue, seemingly out of ideas for weekly freaks and monsters. To add to that, the conspiracy theory has now became somewhat confusing and indecipherable. At the time of production, the show was getting alot of media attention regarding internal fighting over saleries, and the two main characters, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny were chasing after feature film careers, these stories seemed to overshadow the actual show itself. Because of this, the uniqueness along with the audience started to dwindle away. The two-part opener "The Sixth Extinction" and "The Sixth Extinsion II" are slow and at times, hard to get into with no major gripping storylines and offering no answers to previously asked questions. The season finale "Requiem" was really the only route left to take. There are a few good twists and turns which kept the series afloat. However most fans were loosing hope by the end of the season, fully aware that the once, ground-breaking show was disintergrating.Read full review
After the last two series I was starting to lose all hope that this exhaulted series would start the steep climb to its original glory, however, the 7th series is a marvel! The episodes are exciting, the cast interaction is dynamic and it once again absorbs you back into this believable quest for the truth. To any fan, whether you be a fan of Sci fi or a good mystery, pick this series and all the others in this collection up. I just hope you enjoy this journey as much as I have.
the limited boxset that this is, is super much better them the m lock ones out now. season 7 is great mulder and scully are still trying to find the truth and its still as gripping as all the other seasons.
