Good old fashioned film with Fred Astaire at his best.

Very pleased with DVD, could not wait to play it as I am a great fan of Fred Astaire & ginger Rogers films.
Disapointing re-teaming, after a ten-year gap, of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Although it is great to see them in a Technicolor film for the first time, the film has too many obscure, instantly forgettable songs and a rather yawny plot. Fred (then 50) is as debonair as ever but Ginger has lost some of her sizzle. The film was originally to have starred Fred and Judy Garland, who had been a spectacular success together in Easter Parade, but ill-health caused Judy to pull out. Highlights of this backstage musical comedy are Fred's special effects number Shoes With Wings, and the rousing finale.
The all to brief musical numbers by the wonderful Astaire and Rogers duo is a delight, aprt from this the film is truly awful with a plotline that's less than infantile. Sorry.
