I bought this book because I am interested in British cars and also because my father once owned a 1947 Standard 12 saloon when I was a child. I also own a 1953 Triumph Renown which was produced by the Stardard Motor Company. I found the book informative with a history of the company, the cars and the personalities who ran the company or a department. Some of the pictures I had never seen published before so that was a bonus for me. There were a few mistakes such as the author telling us the company obtaining their famous registration but he omits from the text that the registration was SMC 1. You only assume it is SMC 1 from the picture of it displayed on one the company's veteran cars. There was a spelling mistake but i didn't note it when teading the book and would have to through it again to find the actual page! Overall it is a good effort and the company's history deserved to be recorded. It is a book I will lend to my car loving friens and keep forever in my own library.Read full review
