I must say that when I heard the name Gina Ford I was a bit nervous but after nights of my 6 month old waking every 2 hours in the night I would have tried anything. I didn't use Ford's methods from the get go but I had my son going to bed at the right time and we had a good routine. However I did manage to get into some bad habits. Once reading the book, her guidelines really helped. For example I was putting my son to bed with him falling asleep with the bottle. I tried waking him to put him in the cot awake but it was impossible. So she advised to start the bedtime routine earlier so he would be more awake.....it worked. Another thing, when I was weaning my son I was feeding him certain foods at 5pm....i.e. fruit, or sweet potato. He was waking up at 1am with a dirty nappy. She gave guidelines of what to feed him and what not to feed him at certain times of the day to avoid this. I only give him fruit with his breakfast and or lunch and that has avoided him waking up dirty. I also used her methods for sleep training and they worked. In all fairness, everything that I needed help on her answers provided the success we needed. I didn't use all her methods that she has written in her book, but I think that is ok. I gleaned from the book so much and implemented those things that we needed for our child at that time. I then bought a copy for myself as our child grows I will always have a guide to go back to. As I first time mum I was a bit clueless, but of course want the best for my baby (as we all do). I felt Gina Fords book help me fill the gaps when I fell short in areas I was unfamiliar with.Read full review
I bought this book because I had trouble getting my daughter to sleep through the night and a friend recommended I purchased a copy. I'm so glad I took her advice, I found the book to be a god send. This book was easy to follow and full of excellent advice. I have not heard of any other books on the market that guide you as well as this one.
