If you grew up with the NME in the 70s and 80s, like I did, this book will remind you vividly of how great and groundbreaking the journalism of those days used to be. If you grew up later, it will serve as a vital insight into what you missed out on! Kent interviews and gives his insights into the genius artists of rock and punk from those heady days. It's hard to convey how brilliantly written this stuff is - many laugh out loud moments, not only from what the crazy rockers say, but also Kent's discriptions of them and their craft. The recent deaths of Lou Reed, Prince and David Bowie give added poignancy to some chapters. The details of Sid Vicious's final days also came as a shock, as I didn't know this information even existed. In short: the best music book I've ever read (and I've read a few!)Read full review
