This film is not entirely historically accurate. However, it does well show the political differences between the Parliamentarians/'Roundheads' and the issues shown with the army , levellers and other dissenters were real. .Some were fighting for democracy and one vote for all men and others just wanted government to be with/by parliament. The film showed how Cromwell became a virtual sovereign in all but name. I don't know about their views on women having the vote given this is set in the 17th Century. The title shows how women who did not comply with 'the conventional' were discriminated against in 17th Century society. Most heterosexual women will appreciate Michael Fassebender in the cast. There was fantastic acting from him, John Sims as Saxby, Maxine Peak, Samuel West , Angela Risborough and all the other cast members. The story is well told and it looks authentic for the period. This is well worth watching.Read full review
