Billy doesn't play a major part of the film, but I don't care, it's a fantastic film, and Billy's presence just makes it a whole world better :o) (can you tell I'm biased ;o))
Something I watched as a teenager some 30 years ago and it left a strong impression to me. As a Scots lad it brought to life how grey, dreich; the greenock/shipyards/housing was in the 1970's. Billy Connolly puts an excellent performance as Jody...a kind of experienced 'auld hand'. The two characters share a day drinking, talking, argueing.....it's left to the viewer to determine if Jody is real, a figment of the main characters imagination...or maybe an angel. I remember the old Scottish 'play for today' series and I look back fondly on them all. Can't understand why I didn't see trousered flares as crap looking at the time. I'm developing a selective memory in my forties! Overall. Great!! Scott Murray(Ayrshire)
