I bought "Snap!" when it first came out in 1983 as a double vinyl LP. When it was released on CD a few years later, for some unexplained reason it was only a single CD, entitled "Compact Snap!" with a few of the tracks missing. Therefore, this version, is not really an expanded version, but rather a restoration of the original. Plus, if you buy the 3CD version, the 3rd CD is actually the 7" EP that was included with initial copies of the vinyl album. All in all, an excellent purchase!
Great compilation album from The Jam. I personally think that this album benifits from not only having the standard tracks like Down In The Tube Station, Modern World etc, but alsio the classic album tracks such as Billy Hunt, English Rose. If you want a cheap introduction to the band then this is a great way to start.
So the first release was Compact Snap. A cutdown version of the origional double LP. Next up we have the 2004 release that fetured a double CD that matched the origional double LP. Finally we have a complete CD version of the origional, including a third CD with a copy of the origional 7" in its sleeve. Definetly the best version to have although I waited over 20 years for it to appear. Buy this version, it's definatly the best and for some reason they are selling cheaper than the older cut down versions.
