Absolutely Brilliant! While I was growing up in Australia in the 70’s, there were 3 bands that I strove to get every record release that I could get my hands on. Those bands were Queen, Yes & Styx. This album has kind of got a bit of them all in it. While it is most definitely a earlier style Styx album, you can hear influences from a lot of bands from that era. Even Pink Floyd. It’s the first new album for years that I can’t stop playing. The most 70’s thing about it is that you want to play the whole album at one time. In Order! My kids always play their music in shuffle mode. I struggle to do that & I certainly cannot do it with this album. The tracks hook me in from start to finish. Styx has always been a tremendous band. Their playing & vocals have just got better over the years. They may have parted ways with Dennis DeYoungs vocals & keyboards some years back but his replacement, Lawrence Gowan is just sensational. If you were into good album music from the 60’s & 70’s, give it a listen (or 2). I doubt that you will be disappointed. I maybe getting old but I could sure handle another album this good before I’m gone. The only problem may be is that it won’t appeal to the masses now. It’s 2017 not 1975. I for one, don’t care!
