While watching another dvd a trailer came up for the Sin Eater which was good enough to tempt me to buy the dvd. I was not disappointed and really enjoyed the film. The Sin Eater is a person who has lived for Centuries taking peoples sins away by drawing the sin from their bodies unfortunately this also process involves taking the life force as well as the sin with the reward of dying sin free. No thank you Mr Sin Eater I am happy with the sinner sometimes saint tag The Sin Eater grows tired of living requiring someone to take up the mantle and when a young rebellious priest learns of the Sin Eater responsible for taking the life of a priest the young priest looked upon as a father the action begins as the young priest tracks down the Sin Eater. I love movies and normaly figure out what is coming next but this film kept me guessing for most of the time and I like the subject matter of good versus evil with a religious angle which I find fascinating. This movie is a bit different and takes its place in my ever growing library however if you like Angels and Demons then you might just want to give this film a viewing I wonder if there is a Sin Eater two? I will start with an objective view, what a shame Heath took his own life be it by accident or suicide. This film *The Sin Eater* although low budget has a great cast fullfilling their very believable roles.Who would have thought that"robocop"was such a fantastic player. The story of a Sin Eater is quite a simple one, however badly you sin in your life you can still get to heaven as long as on your death bed you summon the Sin eater who performs a religous act upon you completely absolving you of all sin,so well that st.Peter himself would have no doubt of your good character. The very concise story draws you in and shows a dark side to religion resulting in a great twist. On my scale, which is the favourite 5 films at any 1 time, this film was on my list for a while.Jumping to a different film, batman,Heath owned that film.Christian Bale no doubt was a good batman but Heath Ledger rocked the role of the JOKER.Truly believable,i had to watch that twice agog at his skill. He seemed a genuine force to be reckoned with. I think that the very expensive building that he lived in and died in is jinxed. Chris Farley, jake Blues Heath Ledger almost mcauly culken have perished there.Well thats my pennies worth.viacondios JamesRead full review
Lets make mo mistake, this film is bloody awfull. The only reason most people would watch this is for Heath Ledger. I dont like to speak ill of the dead but Heath Ledger is an over rated actor. Broke back mountain is one of the most over rated films of th last 15 years, and Jack Nicholson is a far better joker. But as usual when someone dies young and unexpectedly everyone, particulary the general public, who know nothing about good cinema, jump on the i love Heath Ledger bandwagon and they think everthing he did was great. Everything about the sin eater is terrible from start to finish, Home and away style acting Ledger included, combined with a stupid storyline make this unwatchable rubbish, avoid at all costs.
HEATH LEDGER AT HIS BEST, BRILLIANT FILM ABOUT A REBELLIOUS PRIEST BECOMING INVOLVED IN THE DARK SIDE OF RELIGEON. FIGHTING DEMONIC ENTITIES INCLUDING THE SIN EATER HE EVENTUALLY BECOMES THE SIN EATER HIMSELF.
