Its one of them albums you will play all the time, along with raw power its one of the best punk records ever made!
Having loved this album and band for some time, I was excited to get my greasy paws on this reissue. The sound is roundly beefed up on this remaster, improving greatly on the original CD I had, circa 1992. Dave Alexander's bass throbs with more resonance, Ron Asheton's guitar sounds even sicker, Rock Action's drums pummel along with a little more definition and force, and Iggy's vocals are even closer in-your-face. I thoroughly enjoyed the bonus disk, which is rare for me, as I feel that too often we get lumbered with second-rate crap like lame covers or deservedly-forgotten b-sides. There are some interesting curios: alternate mixes and takes, such as a different vocal on '..Dog' which has Iggy singing in the lower register (sultry!), full versions of 'Ann' and 'No Fun', plus the original John Cale mixes for a handful of songs. Personally I found these a bit dull and am glad that Ig and Jac Holzman snuck in and remixed 'em to their past and current glory. So have a 'Real Cool Time' (pfft!) and grab this reissue (plus the Funhouse one) from ebay. My copies were brand new and about 8 or 9 quid cheaper than in the mega-stores. WOOF!Read full review
