The content is compelling, but much of the story is repetitive, especially the details of the two main characters. I would not read it again and just need to get through the story to see what happens next. Not a lot happens next, in fact. So I am not convinced this author is as good as others think s/he is. I still have the last novel to read. More about that when I've read it.

I was recommended to the story by a friend who had been watching the TV series. I haven't watched that, but I've read the first book in the quartet ('My Brilliant Friend') and I'm racing through the second book. They're incredibly readable with many colourful characters and (presumably) a fascinating insight into Italian, well Naples, society of that time (1960s). A page-turrner. As with books, probably not to everyone's liking, but certainly to mine!

The second in the series of a fantastic story based in in Naples Italy just after the 2nd world war.

After reading the first novel in this series I just needed to hear the rest of the story!

Excellent condition. Only just started it but if it's like the preceding 3 books then I will love it. Excellent yarn about the two friends (and at times foes).
