Well what can we expect from a great band?Another great album that's what! The follow up album to ''In Love And Death'' The Used bring a slap across the face to any critics that thought that this album was going to be their downfall. From songs on the album like "The Bird And The Worm" to "Earthquake", the used bring a different co-operation in sounds on every song. The more crunchier sounding songs have a new metal type edge to it,whilst still retaining The Used's sound that everyone is used to.The used have take another different approach to this album, adding more sentimental songs to it,such as "With Me Tonight" and "Find A Way",the guys do nothing but impress. Fronted by Bert McCracken, he still uses his vocals to his upmost, and adding blood curdling screams in certain parts, especially the song "Wake the dead" One of the best songs which is on the album is "Pretty Handsome Awkward",Bert's vocals are used to his most fullest and using awesome guitar rifts and a drum beat that would impress the most hateful Used fan,it is a keeper. Overall this album impressed me to the most fullest and all i can say is well done to The Used, for producing such an amazing albumRead full review
I expected big things from The Uwed when I bought this record. And big things was what I got. The first half of the album, pulling you in witht eh lieks of "The Ripper", The Bird and The Worm", and "Hospital" really shove you into the energy that The Used seem to give from their music. The raw power and fast changing chords makes you want to scream, shout and jump your head off. Saying that, The Used aren't jsut a bunch of energy-fuelled headbangers, as the second half of the album, with mellow sing alongs like "Find a Way" and "Smother Me", and also "With Me Tonight" shwo pure talent in creating the mood and message they want to convey in their songs. An excellent album that I would definately recommend. Buy it.
I decided to buy this disc because I like the bands music and I didn't have any of there albums. I like the fact that it is a good CD, simply because all of the bands best songs are included on it and the tunes are very upbeat. I dislike the fact that you really do have to play it loud to appreciate it and sometimes it's not appropriate to do so. I love the fact that worm and the bird is on there, as it's the song that got me listening to The Used. I like the album cover also as it is unique and funky, the CD case looks good on my floor LOL. Yeah, the CD was a good price on e-bay to compared to un the shops so i figured why not.
There are some great tracks on this album, most notably 'Pretty Handsome Awkward' and 'Lies for the Liars.' My only criticism is that some of the tracks can best be described as "fillers." However this is not normally the genre of music I would listen to so if I like most of the tracks chances are you'll like all of them.
pop punk with little emotion, i am not a fan of this album, is sounds so much more produced then the old cd. Its also harsh and has rubbish lyrics that if only are comical "back and forth like some walking spastic" and "lier lier pants of fire" are jsut some This cd is great for the new pop emo fans, but the used finally have lost that gritty feeling we all love. Oh well, im sure this album will be the next My Chemical Romance, it sghoulds like there album with Helena on it.....
