As a Regency romance writer, Louise Allen is in a class of her own and this has got be one of her best books. It is well-written, well-researched, with very appealing characters that you really become involved with. Adam Weston is all you could ask for in a romantic hero, especially as, unlike a lot of them, he has a sense of humour, too. Our heroine, Decima, is not the conventional romantic novel heroine at all and the reader can identify with her all the more because of that. Louise Allen really exemplifies the best of the genre, as her novels are always original and never formulaic. The part where Adam carries Deci through the snow is beautifully done and who would have guessed freckles could be so sexy?!
