Excellent sampling of their catalog, like a good concert. Contains some of Scott's solo work, very heartfelt.

For those who only know the work of The Waterboys, because of the Album title track, The whole of the moon, should treat themselves to a further insight of the genius of Mike Scott... This un assuming artist who has a list as long as your arm of famous musicians that either praise or wish to work with him, is held in high regard , by them all.... He has tracks that date back all the way thru the 80's, 90's and into this millenium too...Sheer brilliance, whether seen live on Glastonbury pyramid stage to 80,000 folks young and old, or banging out an older remixed hit from his past catalogue, whilst entertaining a smaller 500 people gig, or maybe online with all the technical help of being seen live on cyberspace "space"... the tracks from this album and many more are a testament to his skill and likeability... So getting past the wonderfully uplifting "The whole of the moon", leads you thru to "The Glastobury song", and further on to "The raggle taggle gypsy", and so you see the true state of his music being of a folky, celtic mixed blues cocktail that then allows haunting ballards such as "The Red Army Blues"...a blend that leaves you in no dont of his true spiritually......And wow springs to mind as to where does his talents end.... Always chopping and changing his musicians to fit the gig or the recording, leaves him stuck with who to choose in his line up, as they just all seem to want to all play with him, at all times, always... If you do not know anything more than the title track , then time to treat yourselves, and if you get a chance to click online, just search with "Mike Scott", with your favourite engine, and be prepared to be suprised, if only with the bibliography of the man and his music.....Bet you'll wanna check him out on their busy, well thought out gig list, that cover most of the european, summer gig circuit, large or small...So check em out.....Enjoy....cos i just know ya will....Les CorderRead full review
Waterboys we love them. Brings back fond memories. I was asked to get a CD copy of albums we used to own and love when we were young. We now put it on in the car and we are not dissapointed. great. We also purchased Fishermans blues for the same reasons mentioned another classic Waterboys CD.
