Hi - I like these Director's Label DVDs - they really succeed in giving a bit of a representative, collaged impression of the director they're covering, from they're most polished work to personal and spontaneous snippets, plus the included mini-book is a nice touch as well. This Spike Jonze one is no exception - lots of good music vids, some nice surprises of one's I'm not familiar with (such as Pharcyde) and some very watcheable asides and extras. I'd recommend this for anyone who recognises and likes any of the videos on it and would like a further glimpse into the person and creative process behind them. Not to take anything away from Spike Jonze, but my favourite of this series I've seen so far is the Michel Gondry one, it's even more choca ewith good stuff, so much as I recommend this, I'd recommend you treat yourself to that as well, and if you can only afford to get one at the mo, consider getting the Michel Gondry one first. Also, there's a website for these DVDs at http://www.directorslabel.com/ if you want to find out more. Hope that helps. SethRead full review
A great collection of promos from Spike- including the ground breaking videos for Fat Boy Slim and The Beastie Boys. Every video is original and unique, making this a compilation to play again and again. Also worth a look, are the extra features that are included- giving an insight into Spike's work before he started making feature films.
Love Spike Jonze - but don't believe the hype re this film set. The filming is great but the content/ subject matter is a big question mark. So apply purchase with caution.
Quality tracks. This is a must see. Although sometimes bizzare Spike undoubtly has unique qualities and vision.Highly under-rated artist.
