After the first couple of Lizzy albums, you really can't go wrong. Bad Reputation (their 8th album), was mainly recorded by a stripped-down Lizzy featuring Phil, Scott Gorham on guitars and Brian Downey on drums. Brian Robertson appears on some tracks but left the band due to 'fighting injuries'! This is a darker album than their previous and less of a concept but it's my favourite, containing at least 4 of my top ten Lizzy songs. It captures the band at their most aggressive in the studio and manages to highlight each member's potential but with ease thanks to the quality of the tunes... Scott's sweet solo in 'Dancing...', well... enough said! Don't listen to me, go out and buy it!!! After this, buy 'Black Rose'.
I purchased this on cassette when it first came out in 1977. In my opinion this album is only bettered by JailBreak. Two great singles are here "Bad Reputation" and "Dancing in the Moonlight" which features a superb base riff by Phil Lynott.Other standout tracks include "Soldier of Fortune" and "Downtown Sundown". But to be honest theres not a bad track on the album. Lizzy at their best.
as good as it ever was, classic softer Thin Lizzy, Lynott was a musical poet without being soppy, neve has atrack been mor at or the times we live in now as Soldier of Fortune, fantastic!
