My influence in buying this product was born a couple of weeks previous when I watched a programme which highlighted the songwriting talents of Phil Lynott coupled with the raw music from the other band members of Thin Lizzy. Full of enthusiastic anticipation there was a great start to the CD collection of songs with'The boys are back in town'and 'Jailbreak'which I remember from a crackling LP once in my possession! 'Don't believe a word'is full of punch over the short two minutes and seventeen seconds. Another great follow up of songs with 'Waiting for an alibi' and 'Rosalie/Cowgirl Song'. Other highlights included the Phil Lynott and Gary Moore collaboration 'Out in the fields'which harks back to my teenage years and still sounds as punchy as ever! 'Dancing in the moonlght' brings out a soulful side and 'Parisienne Walkways'with the amazing guitar solo! 'Still in love with you' made my hairs stand up on the back of my neck with the live bluesy guitar and sultry vocals. The CD is rounded off a excellent song only made in the homeland of Phil Lynott!Read full review
THIN LIZZY - WILD ONE CD 1996 I have several Thin Lizzy CD's and Vinyl and know some of the band personally. Sadly I never got to meet Phil though. I’m currently working on book about the band and all members past & present. Although I have all of the songs on this CD I still wanted to add it to my collection. Besides, to be honest, it is one of the best Thin Lizzy compilation CD's around, having most of their very best songs all on one CD. It is certainly worth buying it even if you have all of the songs; and to a new fan or someone who has very little of Thin Lizzy's music, then this CD is a must have for your collection. I'm not one for downloading music, I like to have the hard copy in my collection, so no matter what I will always buy the CD as opposed to downloading it from one of the legitimate websites. There is of course nothing wrong with purchasing the MP3 download if that’s what suits you, I just like to sit down, put the CD in my good ‘ol trusty player and read the sleeve notes as I enjoy each and every song; I’m one of those diehard fans from the seventies and eighties who used to rush out to my nearest record store to buy the latest Vinyl Record, then rush back home to put it on my record deck and read the sleeve notes and admire the artwork whilst listening to the record; something that we hardened ‘music fans’ used to do back then. The audible quality of the vinyl record was superior to that of the CD; that said, the quality of this CD is superb and I can’t fault it. One advantage that we have today over the seventies and eighties is that we no longer have to get-up to turn the L.P. (Album) over to play the ‘B’ side. This CD has the track listings and a very interesting three page mini bio written by Stuart Bailie of New Musical Express, and believe me, that is worth a read. The tracks on this CD have been carefully selected and fitted into place like a well-oiled machine. What you get is 19 tracks of brilliant Thin Lizzy songs and you can’t get much better than that! To give this album anything less than 5* would be an in-justice to everyone involved in the Re-mastering of this superb Thin Lizzy Compilation CD. Don’t take my word for it, go buy it, you won’t be disappointed. Steve Williamson June 2012Read full review
Usually only buy best ofs and greatest hits for my jukebox. Wasn't disappointed with this purchase forgot how many good songs thin lizzy had. For a couple of quid you can't really go wrong when you consider this would probably have been around a tenner .
