Marty Robbins had a wonderful ability to write many different kinds of songs and in the 'Today' album he shows what a great storyteller he is with 'The Chair' which tells about a condemned man's final moments in the electric chair. An extremely clever song, Marty was blessed with a wonderful imagination as was proved by his forays into western and cowboy songs. The 'Today' album hasn't got a duff track on it in my opinion and I was glad that finally someone got round to releasing it on CD. The 'Don't Let Me Touch You' sides are tasteful, but I think the song 'Try A Little Tenderness' was way over produced, with everything but the kitchen sink accompanying Marty. He didn't need embellishments in my opinion, after all he had that voice. Well worth buying.
