Perfect for what I need it for, playing HD DVDs which are now a legacy media format. It's easy to set up and requires minimal fuss with changing settings. With the demise of the HD DVD format a few parts of functionality have been lost, such as the ability to connect to HDi content through the web or player updates over Ethernet. However it still perfectly plays back in full 1080p 24hz. Load times for discs are a bit on the lengthy side, but that's more to do with the age of the player so I cannot fault tech that is almost 10 years old. A top tier player that has excellent picture quality and decent sound through HDMI. Will need to test more throughly with a 5.1 surround set up.

I was introduced to HD DVD by my mate who works in the audio/ video business. HD DVD in our opinion is better quality than Blu Ray and this Toshiba is well equipped to play the discs. If there is a downside its the ability to play DTS Master. I did put the EP35 firmware on to it to see if that would up the audio quality but it hasn't the ability, aside from that the video quality is good with 1080P/24 frame rate and nice and sharp. Just try the Batman Begins to get a good idea what the video quality of you player will be.

I think image quality is better than my blu rays when projected onto my 120 inch screen. Blu ray is compressed and shows. Same old story beta max was better than vhs yet vhs won out. Quality product
