With just a wrench, Allen key and elastic band the old cartridge was out in minutes. Then with a little steel wool and silicone grease the new one was fitted in just a few minutes as well. Well within the capabilities of an average DIYer, but there is also a video on site to take you through the steps needed. The new cart was a perfect fit and within 30 mins the operation of the shower was like new again. All shower parts seem expensive compared with a new shower unit, but this seemed a good deal and a lot more acceptable than the inconvenience of ripping the old one out and retiling etc. so it was money well spent. Just be careful of the sharp edges from the machining of the brass body and don't cut yourself.

This is the third one of these I have had to buy because they keep failing. I an stuck with this product because, to change to a different mixer manufacturer would mean re-tiling the shower/bathroom so I have to keep buying them. They seem to last about three years then either fail to mix properly, so you get a cool or very hot shower, or they become very stiff to turn, to the point where my wife coild not turn the shower on, and so I have to buy a new one.....at around £100 a shot.

Having installed as the resulto of the original one leaking, of course the new one did not leak but the "volume" control works smoothly all the time. The original would not open further once the shower was running (pumped power-shower system). Much better han the original.

Repair for stuck or sticking valve or cold showers.. Easy DIY fix and actually very good quality product.. I actually had a problem with the diaphragm on the boiler diverting valve also(grant combi 90) which caused the hot taps to run out of hot water and the shower was running cold continuously so replaced both. Now the water is endlessly hot and so easy to turn on and off where as before the knob was so stiff and almost impossible to use.. All you need is a pair of waterpump pliers, star head screwdriver and a small tube of silicone grease for the seals before pushing the new one in, easy to do for anyone..
