Seems to work in CentOS 7
Computers these days don't tend to have parallel ports, but my printer does, so I bought this cable which does the trick until I can be bothered to buy a new printer. Info for Linux nerds: the chipset is "1a86:7584 QinHeng Electronics CH340S" and in order to get it to work I had to add the CUPS option "usb-unidir-default=true" using lpadmin (RHBZ #873123 is good for troubleshooting tips like this).
