Loved the idea of living a life with Cruz & Diaz, even a false one (basic man thought). But on another level I was caught up in the concept of cryogenics and the chance of living again after this short life. More over seeing a far off future which one can only guess at the possibilities of living 150 years from now. Fantasy I know, but a mouth watering one. Personally I have already started by wearing a bag of frozen peas on my head whilst I sleep!
A classic film thats' even better on the second time of watching.

Vanilla Sky is a Hollywood remake of Alejandro Amenabar's Open Your Eyes which sticks very closely - almost scene by scene - to the original. The most noticeable features of Vanilla Sky in comparison to Abre Los Ojos is its significantly larger budget and the fact that Penélope Cruz plays the same role in both versions of the film. Being a bit of an anti-Hollywood arthousey purist, I was surprised to find that Vanilla Sky was significantly the better of the two versions - and not just on account of its budget. Overall, I felt that it was more of an homage to Open Your Eyes than a rip-off and that - although there are things in Open Your Eyes which work better (particularly the scene where César meets Sofia again for the first time after his disfigurement) - the story is more rounded, better acted and more stylishly directed in Vanilla Sky. I found that watching the two films in conjunction was an excellent exercise in seeing how a good film can made betterRead full review
I originally saw an edited for TV version of this film and enjoyed it.So when I saw a DVD available at a reasonable price I took the opportunity to add it to my collection. The film was recorded from the theatre copy and contained the unedited sound track,I lost count of the ammount of four letter words and general bad language that was used,in my opinion needlessly. This spoilt a perfectly good story and film for me.There unfortunately seems to be a growing trend of this type of presentation, producers directors and script writers need to have a look at how it was done a few years back, when story telling was done without this tyype of scripting, and very successfully too.GRACLARE
Vanilla Sky is one of those films you need to watch closely! you end up wondering about it for days afterwards, trying to work out all the twists and turns. I love this film but my partner wasn't that impressed but he was the same with The Sixth Sense which I thought was just a good! Vanilla Sky you can watch again & again and notice something new each time! I would well recommend, a great film!
