    Packed full of knowledge

I really like this book. The writing style is light and enlightening. As a new gardener, it's helping me to plan out my year and inspiring me at the same time. It's also very concise without being a dry academic read.

  • Most critical review

To much reading to get the information

Front cover is a colour picture inside are just line drawings and there were only a few pages on things to grow ( about 40 years ago ) not an easy book for a beginner ( my friend has never grown anything before ) so asparagus and globe artichokes not really a good place to start learning

  • A Veggie Gardeners Bible.

There is a whole lot more to growing garden produce than any 'newbie' gardener may realise, it is so easy to make mistakes and have disappointing results, as I have learned. This little book is invaluable. Hint for other newbie's like me, get yourself an A4 page-a-day diary as well as this book, keep a record of everything you do in your garden, mistakes and all, + each days weather and temperature, and add photo's, pictures, etc.,

  • handy reference book

it's a 5 star book cos it helps immensely with the years planning for planting . there are loads of very handy little tips in the dialogue but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's "compelling " reading ; just a helpful down to earth ( pardon the pun ) book .

A used book although you would hardly know it, and at an unbelievable price. The book is exactly what I was looking for giving tips and advice for my new allotment.
