Match 1 - The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray, D'Von, Spike) Vs X-Factor (X-Pac, Justin Credible, Albert) A short, yet very entertaining opener that set the crowd on fire! This wasn't a wrestling clinic but it was the Dudleys arguably in their prime, they gave the fans exactly what they wanted and credit to X-Factor also for contributing for this ideal opener. **3/4 Match 2 - Rhyno Vs Raven - Hardcore Championship Great hardcore action alot better than anticipated. Raven was very over with the crowd which also helped the flow of the match. Some nice spots and everything just worked really well on the whole. *** Match 3 - William Regal Vs Chris Jericho - Duchess Of Queensbury rules This unknown gimmick was actually excellent. Regal did well drawing plenty of heat from the crowd by having the duchess show bias towards him and they worked well together putting on a good wrestling match as well as a contreversial ending and outcome. *** Match 4 - Kurt Angle Vs Chris Benoit - 30 Minute Ultimate Submission match Awesome technical wrestling all the way throughout, however during some stages in the match it moved a little slowly and the crowd didn't seem too interested. In the closing stages though it really picked up and the excitement and tension was fantastic. The technical and scientific nature of the match really added to the variety on this card. So this was definitely a great watch. ***1/2 Match 5 - The Big Show Vs Shane McMahon - Last Man Standing The actual match itself was average and pretty much what you'd expect, Show dominating, Shane having small glimmers of hope before show just washes them away, it's pretty much that for 10 minutes or so. Of course then the ending came which is memorable to say the least and it is a must see moment! That moment alone secures this match it's higher rating. ***3/4 Match 6 - Matt Hardy Vs Christian Vs Eddie Guerrero - European Championship A quick entertaining match that was fast-paced although a little sloppy at times. Some nice moves pulled off, of course you had the run-ins which increased the fan excitement alot. Just solid stuff overall. **1/2 Match 7 - Triple H & Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs The Undertaker & Kane - WWF Championship, Intercontinental Championship, Tag Team Championships A huge main event that had so much hype. The match itself was a good watch, despite taking a while to get going. In the second half of the match we started seeing the finishing moves as you'd expect. The match was always going to have some level of entertainment and it delivered in that aspect. The star power in this match was untouchable, and the excitement towards the end made this a fitting main event. ***1/2 PPV Score - 7.75 This event was certainly solid all round. It pretty much had a bit of everything from technical wrestling, hardcore wrestling, entertainment, crowd excitement, and star power. All these things combined made a good overall PPV that I would recommend picking up if you are a WWE fan of present or just a wrestling fan in general.Read full review
backlash 2001 has got to be the best backlash ever!!!! this pay per view was truly outstanding! every match on the card was great to watch, the whole 194 minutes of it. the matches i thought really made the event were: Hardcore championship match between rhyno and raven. this match was absolutely fantastic, in fact i think this has to be the best hardore match i have ever seen (the triple threat hardcore match at judgement day was not as good as this), both superstars in this match gave a great performance, rhyno has such great speed and power. everything was used in this match chairs, trash cans, signs and even trolleys! rhyno tried the gore to raven but missed and went straight through the trolley. but he made up for that later on in the match when he gored raven to retain the hardcore championship. fantastic hardcore match 5********/5. the 30 minute ultimate submission match was also very good between chris benoit and kurt angle. these two had quite a rivalry in 2001 but this match was probably the best that they had. great match 5/5. the next match i thought was fantastic was the last man standing match between shane mcmahon and the big show, this is the match i think made the pay per view. this match was fantastic shane mcmahon and big show put up a great performance to create the best last man standing match i think that there has ever been. great weapons were used in this match like kendo sticks, signs, trash cans, chairs and even thick metal poles. the ending to this match is brilliant, shane climbs up the side of the setting all the way to the top (the set must have been 100 foot high)then he leaps off it and lands straight on top of the big show and they both crash through the electrical cables and stuff. fantastic match 5****************/5. the main event was also very very good. it was a tag team match: undertaker & kane vs steve austin & triple h with three titles on the line. there was constant tagging in this match and good moves from all superstars. the ending was really good. overall this dvd is a must own for anyone who loves wrestling. in fact you dont even have to like wrestling to see this dvd, as soon as you see it you will become addicted to wrestling! if anyone is thinking of getting it GET IT!!!!!!!!! overall dvd rating 5***********************/5!Read full review
