Although the content very good, the sound quality not inspiring, a bit disappointed

PRIDE OF WALES Band of the Welsh Guards Another re-issue on CD of a long departed vinyl recording (1986). Starting with Elgar’s “Nimrod” and ending with “Abide with Me” we hear marches, including “Cardiff Arms”, instrumental features, including “Bilitus” a fine oboe solo, a couple of ‘classics‘ , including “Norwegian Carnival”, and a great arrangement of the nursery rhyme “This Old Man” which becomes “Children’s Patrol” but you’ll still sing the worrds (perhaps not out loud!!) The band plays under the direction of Captain Peter Hannam BEM psm and is consistently good throughout The insert notes are adapted from the original cover notes and have a history of both the band and it’s Director of Music as well as notes on all the items played. Me - I enjoyed this CD enormously and am pleased that I bought it (I also happen to have a soft spot for the Welsh Guards) Highly recommendedRead full review
