i love anything to do with westlife, i also re-buy their dvds etc so ive always got it, i love their music so much thats why i got this item
Having followed Westlife since their debut in 1999 I was disappointed I couldn't make it to their 2005 No 1's Tour. I bought it on DVD just before Xmas 05, brought it home, put it in the DVD player and eagerly awaited the spectacular concert we've all come to expect. I wasn't wholely disappointed with what I saw. Overall the concert was good. To really appreciate it though I need to focus on the the Rat Pack section and the medley. The lads hammed it up during the Rat Pack section and seemed to be sharing insider jokes all the way through. The medley showcased a selection of songs from years gone by which still managed to get the younger kids up on their feet and dancing away. In my opinion it was a good show but not a great one. The only thing that could have made it better was the songlist. It's the same songs we've heard for the past 2, 3 and 4 years and I'd prefer some new songs on the tour. Their albums have been getting better and better and this needs to be reflected in their concerts. The concert ended with the lads rising up from the stage on what looked like metal pillars. It looked quite dnagerous and I couldn't enioy the song properly because I was worried they'd fall off! The rest of the DVD is packed with loads of extras including behind the scenes and a music video. The packaging leaves a fair bit to be desired. In my opinino it really would be better if the DVD's were sold in proper DVD boxes rather than the cardboard cover that they have been for the last couple of years. Westlife still have the potential to be a huge band - even bigger than they are - and there is no doubt in my mind that the concert is better if you're in the arena with the atmopshere rather than on your couch with a Diet Pepsi. However, the song list lets it down. Overall, I'd say the DVD is worth buying but I wouldn't rush out to recommend it.Read full review
