Excellent TV a little heavy to hang on the wall but otherwise fine I love the fact that you can do everything the remote can do by useing the buttons on the side of the TV, great if you can't find the remote. Good second hand TV, needs a freview set top box though. Terri, P.S. I even dropped it onto the sofa and then it fell on the floor but it still worked fine. ( Sigh of relief ).
Works brilliantly .... Just the job!

Date: Monday 24th March 2008 Reason for Purchase: I decided to buy a new TV for my parent's bedroom as at the time they had a humungous (29 inch CRT TV which was over 24years old). To be fair, 24 years is pretty impressive for any TV and you won't be surprised to learn that the make was Sony! Apprehension: So, you can understand when I bought a TV by a company called Wharfedale I was a bit worried as I have never heard of them before. However, since my purchase I have not looked back. What is even more reassuring is if you grab the latest Argos catalogue you will be surprised by the range of TVs that this company is offering. If it is good enough for Argos (who are interested in good prices for reliable items) it was more than good enough for me. Result: Any LCD TV probably would have been appreciated by my parents as half their room has been claimed back! Considerations: What is a good price for an LCD TV? INCHES TO POUNDS For me having looked around, if you can buy an LCD TV for approx 11 pounds an inch that is NORMAL (Shop) price. For example, a 32 inch will be approx 350 pounds plus. On ebay you can make ridiculous savings you should always be looking to pay just under 10 pounds an inch (inclusive of VAT and postage!!). So a 319 pound 32 inch LCD TV is only good if this includes postage to your house. But, remember you can find some fantastic bargains on eBay. TO FREEVIEW OR NOT TO FREEVIEW Is ther any point of getting a Freeview set if you already have a set-top box? The simple answer is Yes. It is all about saving space and hassle. Integrated Freeview is an excellent idea and will be the standard. It is worth that extra price, look to pay 40 pounds extra. Plus, on this TV it was a doddle to set up. WALL-MOUNTABLE Check that the TV is Wall-Mountable. Most of them are and this means rather than plocking it on a stand you can hang it on the wall like a venetian painting! I am going to do this next weekend. Check if the item has a wall bracket included. If it doesn't look to spend 10 pounds for 15-23 inch LCD TVs. How does the Wharfedale do? The TV is 20 inches but the people at wharfedale have placed large speakers either side of the screen so the actual size of the TV (not the screen) is 23 inches making it seem larger than what one would expect. [5/5] Secondly, the integrated Freeview was easy to set up, less than a minute! And, the set comes with a dandy remote. Not overly complicated and intimidating which was important as I was purchasing for my parents. [5/5] Thirdly, the TV fits the Wall-Mountable specifications. [5/5] Downside: It does seem to take the TV a long time to load (average 5 seconds) when first turned on. But, if you can be patient, after this it is fine and means you can turn on the TV and have time to get comfy in the bed or on the setee Suggestions: I bought mine through auction for just under 110 pounds. :o) (I am still grinning about the purchase) The only reason I can think of why the price was so low is that they (Wharfedale) are not yet a well-known/established company in the consumer's eyes (such as Sony, Samsung, Panasonic). But, this is sure to change in the future. Grab these TV's while you can. I am going to be upgrading in a few months as I want to get one with not only freeview but a DVD player as well. I know I am never satisfied!!Read full review
