Having a father suffering from Alzheimer’s, I was drawn to this heart warming yet heart breaking memoir. Sally Magnusson write from direct experience of seeing her beloved mother slip away from life into the most cruel of conditions which robs a vibrant soul of their personality, intelligence and capability. It reassured me that what we are experiencing with my father is not unique and what he is experiencing is simply part of having Alzheimer’s; the fears, the confusion, the frustration, the loss of independence. It’s just all so sad with the odd glimpse of humour to keep you going!

A friend lent me her copy of this book and it was such an interesting read that I had to have my own copy. Sally's story is powerful and all too familiar as the population lives longer. The chapters in between the story deal with the different kinds of dementia and the issues that arise. A helpful source of information for anyone caring for a loved one with this unpredictable illness.
