Changes are, only progressive rock fans will be able to name a single Wishbone Ash song by title. They were better known for their live raucous performances, than their staid studio albums which didn't show all the verve that they had live. Quite the enduring band, they've been around since 1969 and still perform today. So, as an introduction to the band, this 2 CD set accomplishes it purpose. Budget priced, it's a bargain, since getting the individual CD's isn't the easiest thing to come by. They are seldom in the used CD bins, and most people don't own many of them, except the exceptional 'Argus' and 'Live Dates.' As selections go, about 3/4's of the 'essential' Wishbone songs are here, although a few are left out inexplicably. The sound quality of the songs vary from song, too. Some of the songs are flatly recorded, others are too bright and tinny. All things considered, the listen ability of the recording is about 7.5 out of 10. If you're just getting into prog rock, this introduction to the band is a necessity: no prog rock fan should be naive as to who the Ash are! Best songs by this band, are largely a matter of individual taste. Read full review
