I have been following Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown since the early 1970 and this album is up there as one of the best, the first thing to highlight is that it plays very loud, the three piece band really give it all they have got led by the sublime guitar dexterity of Kim. There is a mixture of crunchy rocking blues tunes and more laid back material but the one constant is Kim's guitar playing, he is in cracking form throughout, he was definitely overlooked in the late sixties when the Guitar god accolade was being passed between Jimmy Page, Peter Green and Eric Clapton! The album plays for over 50 minutes with eleven tracks all written by Kim, there are certainly no fillers, while Kim's vocals have improved greatly over the past couple of years it would be a treat to hear one of the previous "Browny vocalist" tackle this material, the Band have now been going for over 50 years and on this evidence there is plenty more mileage to come from them. An associated non-musical observation is that the cover is also back to the standard of the seminal 1970's covers like Looking In & Hellbound Train.............perfect to scare the kids at Halloween!Read full review
