The book is a personal account of the author's life and work on the railway, so better than something written by an historian. It's well written, with good amounts of information and good photos, so for general railway interest it's fine. However, the title cites "the London and North Eastern Railway, although the author admits that it's only really about the North Eastern area, not the complete system. This means that from a personal point of view it's less interesting, as my interests lie further south on the LNER.
