xxx 1 Very good film about a man called Xander Cage (Vin Diesel)who is recruited for a secret agency by Augustus Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson). He must stop a ruthless Russian Crime Ring from releasing deadly gasses into the Chezch Republic, Prague. A very good film with lots of nice cars. I went to go and see xXx2 yesterday and it is brilliant with Darius Stone (Ice Cube) as the new xXx. Lots of nice cars in that too. xxx: next level If you're going to make an action movie, think big; that's what I say. XXX: The Next Level thinks big – and then some. I'm not a huge fan of action films, but this one is truly the bee's knees (hey, I'm just trying to avoid saying "This film is awesome" here). I don't really see how anyone could be disappointed in this thriller. Is it realistic? Well, no – but action movies are never realistic. That's why they're called action movies and not documentaries. And, actually, the basic scenario brought to life here might be more possible that many people think – you'll never count me among the crowds chanting "It can't happen here." I'll admit, when I saw the film's PG-13 rating, I was a little wary. PG-13 never bodes well for violence and explosions and bloodshed and general destructive mayhem, but the lack of an R rating turned out to be meaningless here – as there is plenty of stuff that goes boom throughout the entire film. America loves an anti-hero, especially one with the unsurpassed attitude and general bad-a, uh, steel-plated ba-, uh unsurpassed self-confidence of Darius Stone (Ice Cube). Nine years in a maximum-security prison, courtesy of a corrupt general now serving as Secretary of Defense, hasn't done anything to sugar-coat Stone's outlook on life. (Of course, only civilians can serve as Secretary of Defense, but let's just pretend we don't know that; while we're at it, let's also pretend that said Secretary of Defense is in charge of Presidential security, since the Secret Service is nowhere to be found in this movie). If you're NSA agent Augustus Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson) and your whole crew of good men has just been taken out by the most elite of attacks, Stone is just the kind of man you want on your team – and so it is that the good guys bust Stone out of prison to christen him the new XXX. Many extremely expensive explosions, not to mention gunfights and hand-to-hand combat scenes, quickly follow. There are a number of twists and turns along the way to the truth of the unprecedented plot playing out in the Beltway, but let's just say there are no locked doors as far as Stone is concerned. He's a door-crasher from way back. Maybe the elements of the final scenario are a little unrealistic, but I didn't care, since I was watching rather than analyzing the movie at the time. Others may disagree, but I thought XXX: The Next Level was a great action movie; it had everything I want in this kind of thriller, and there's nothing more enjoyable than getting to the truth of a vast conspiracy – especially when the path is filled with as many explosions as the filmmakers can pack into 100 minutes. It's true that a lot of innocent civilians and a fair share of good guys are killed in the process, but this is just a movie –a wildly entertaining one that I thoroughly enjoyRead full review
Featuring both the big-budget, high-octane action-thrillers in the XXX series. XXX(Triple X): A new brand of secret agent: this 'Xtreme' edition features an addtional 8 minutes of new content not seen in theatrical version! This amped action drama stars Vin Diesel as Xander (aka Triple X), a rebellious extreme sports star with a mission to defy authority and create anarchy. In the dramatic opening scene of the movie, Xander pulls an outrageous series of stunts with the help of a band of similar-minded jocks, broadcasts the whole event live onto the Internet with a network of strategically placed digital cameras, and then avoids being captured by the squadron of police who pursue him. When Triple X is later taken into custody, Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson), a representative from a government agency, hires the chiseled athlete and turns him into a secret agent with a mission to travel to Prague and collapse a dangerous terrorist cell operated by Yorgi (Martin Csokas) and the seductive Yelena (Asia Argento). Triple X is quickly drawn into Yorgi's lair, a stunning chateau situated in the mountains that is equipped with every high-tech modern amenity imaginable, along with a sizeable team of extra-large Slav bodyguards, a laboratory staffed by top scientists, and an always-ready gaggle of gorgeous concubines. Non-stop stunts, pounding hard-core music, elaborate sets, and inventive costumes make this Rob Cohen-directed adrenaline overload a visually exciting, aurally engaging, highly entertaining success! XXX (Triple X) 2: In Washington D.C., the center of American power, an attack is being prepared on a target you would never expect. Two quite different films really.. XXX is Cert 15, XXX The Next Level is Cert 12, aimed at a younger audience. XXX starring Vin Diesel is good.. he is on his usual form (he does play a good anti-hero - he was perfect as Riddick!)there are some good set action pieces, and a good supporting cast. To be honest I dont think the story can be up to much, as I cannot recall what it is about! XXX The Next Level stars Ice Cube. He is quite simply brilliant, throwing himself into the role. Lots more action, and effects, and I can remember all the story so it must have been good. To be honest I much preferred this film, probably as I can enjoy it with the children, which I cannot do with the first.
