I was so looking forward to using this, did a lot of research between this and the hero 5. The higher bit rate and lower price sold me on this one as the one to go for. I know buying without the backup of a statside/eu name brand and support network one takes a chance. Sadly this time it did not pay off. I inserted battery and charged for the required 90 minutes. On turning on there was evidence of the backlight working but no screen image. Plgging into pc allowed access to the data card so the unit was possibly functioning internally, but without a way to communicate with it who can tell. Build quality is on the cheap side, plastic feels flimsy, there was light leakage throught the rim of the lens housing. Return requested, looks like i shall have to spend a hiher amount and get the hero.

The quality of the video is great, pictures are good too. However, because of the huge amount of data which need to be written on the microSD card, the card has to be a fast one. U3 speed class with the read speed at least 90 MB/s and the write speed at least 80 MB/s. Stick to the list of recommended microSD cards as not all U3 memory cards will work with the camera. Future firmware updates might fix the issue though. Overall it is a very useful camera with quality videos and pictures. I definitely recommend it.

Wasn't sure to believe all the reviews. Bought this camera and compared it to my friends hero 5 and I couldn't be happier. For almost half the price you get almost the same quality. And for the "no need of a housing with the hero". I use the camera for mountain biking and don't want a rock hitting the lens. Wondering what the cost is for replacing it on the hero.

Lovely colours and sharp images straight out of the box. File size a bit big but can be put on lower quality. Windslayer essential. Waterproof case works well. Auto exposure a bit severe but does the job most of the time. Pictures look great for the price.

Having owned the Yi 4K previously (and loosing it somewhere, and finding it again after i bought this 4K+) I knew the quality of Yi products and the ease of use but I wasn't prepared for dramatic increase in video quality. On the 4K+, video at 4K, 60fps and 100Mbps makes the older version look pretty poor in comparison. I've not used this properly yet (I'm off snowboarding in March), so my results are based on quick test but I'm confident this will get some excellent footage. I bought a gimble too and it makes the footage look super smooth. For the price I got this, I'd say you can't go wrong. Shame it's not waterproof without the case and that it doesn't have built in or even included ND filters but these are minor quibbles. Great action cam for the post-gopro generation ;-)
