As someone who's just started exploring photography more seriously, this is a great addition to my kit. For the price especially, it's really worth it. Also, as it's not as expensive as the official Canon lens, I'm not afraid to take it places with me. The pictures are mostly pretty Sharp, with a nice depth of field, some pictures can look a little "glowy". However, if you're looking for a lens that is snappy at focusing, perhaps you might want the Canon one, as this one is a bit sluggish and loud trying to find the focus. Not a problem if you're okay to mostly focus manually or if you have a few more seconds to get the shot. Overall I highly recommend it.

Being someone who has to work to a budget, this lens seemed to be an obvious candidate. From what I’ve seen, so far, the image is sharpe and clear. It’s not the image of a £400 lens, but perfectly fine for general use, and the processed picture scales up really nicely. The other massive advantage is the aperture . At F1.4, it really succeeds in low light situations. For only having had this lens for less than a couple of weeks, I can only give a “new users” review.

This isn't going to be a canon quality lens and it feels light compared to canon BUT it's also a 3rd of the price. If you are an occasional user of the 50mm prime then I'd recommend this. It works well and well worth the price. I don't think it's as sharp as the canon equivalent but I've not really played with it much. As I say for the price you can't go wrong nor complain. It's definitely worth buying.

best 50mm low budget lens. auto focus is mousey but it works well. I use this for video and the sharpness is spot on even sharper than my canon 16mm L and close to my canon 24mm L.. so people saying it's not sharp are full off poop. or they don't know how to work it, or maybe they got a factory faliure. but I have to say this is one of the best lenses for the money. Yongnuo also do an 85m which is very good and worth looking at.

1/3rd of the price of the Canon lens this is cloned from, and about 1/3rd of the sharpness too. Feels cheap, looks cheap, almost useless used at anything below F3 unless you like your pictures softer than a wet sponge.
