This is a film I remember from my childhood when I used to go to the pictures with my parents; it has stood the test of time very well. A good, true, story of British derring do and winning against the odds, it is well told and brilliantly acted. The cast list reads like an acting who's who, and it's easy to see why so many of the actors were either already at, or were to reach, the top of their profession. If there is one small criticism it is that some of the backgrounds are, by today's standards, somewhat simple and dated but the film still has the same kudos as it did almost 60 years ago. The title music, “Amethyst March”, is still as stirring now as ever and eminently well suited to the story. In a time when CGI is almost everything it seems that the days are gone when a good, well acted, story was sufficient in itself to be completely enthralling Yangtse Incident is one such. After all these years it still has the ability to raise the hairs on the back of my neck. Wonderful.Read full review
