I am really impressed with this product, I took a punt on using this flash instead of buying the much more expensive canon alternative and I am so glad that I did. I recently used the flash on a photo shoot and was suitably impressd with it's ability to keep up with my workload, it recycled very quickly unlike some of other models this in itself made it easier to capture some unique pictures which I would have missed waiting around for the flash to catch up with me. I would highly recommend this product to any other serious photographers, it delivers on performance and value for money. This flash unit is also very economic with battery life despite being used extensively throughout the shoot. I have used other flash units in the past and had to carry several spare sets of batteries to keep up with the workload, but not with this flash. I only needed the one set and it delivered everytime without failing once.Read full review
Bought because I cant justify the expense of a Nikon Speedlight. This is about 1/10th the price. Looks similar if a little "Plastic-ey". Totally manual with a slave sensor built in and a foot to stand on. Great alternative if you're confident working manually. Great piece of kit if you prefer the control you get with no metering etc. Good flash output, easy to control down to 1/128th power. Quick recharge time at 1/2 power or less. I like it and will probably get one or two more. Add a stand and brolley you can create the equilvalent of a studio setup for under £60. Totally portable, no mains leads, Can't go wrong.
I bought this as i wanted to learn to use a flash for studio/still life work (so I didnt really need TTL), I didnt want to spend hundreds on a flash just to practice and mess about with. When it was delivered I set the flash up on my camera (Nikon D60) and fired off a few shots. And instantly loved it. It felt very well built and solid. Fit on the hot shoe easily and was held tight using the locking ring. There are numerous power settings on the flash, so setting the power for the shot is very easy. It can be used as a slave flash too, either fired by another flash or using wireless triggers. Ill be purchasing a set of wireless triggers soon and another 1 or 2 of these flashes. Yongnuo do a flash that has TTL for automatic setting of flash power based on the metre reading from your camera, so I may get one of those too, now I have had a bit of practice with a flash.Read full review
Not comparable to those 300-500€ flashes, but excellent value for money! You absolutely can't get anything better, actually not even close, for this money. Does not always trigger in very bright sun light, but otherwise performs very well. Battery life could be a bit better, but does last almost one day (hundreds of flashes). I'm going to buy a second one. That tells a bit about how I think about this YongNuo. ;)
I bought this flash as I wanted to do more photography indoors and needed good lightning. And as cheap as it was I could not be more satisfied with the result. From the built in flash to this, for such a small price!? Worth every single coin. I love everything about it. And the only reason I would buy a more expensive one would be if I wanted to get pictures in a more rapid succession or didn't feel like the plastic feel was satisfying. But before that - perhaps buy more of these and a remote controller to perhaps place 3 flashes around the person I'm photographing. One may certainly experiment when the price is right.
