I really cannot understand at times why some old films which finally are offered on to Blue Ray ( high definition) are anything but not HD in fact. If today you purchased a new release you would expect it to be high quality and this seems to be the case, though some have a little noise present in the dark scenes but that aside you have got what you have paid for. But with films that were produced years ago the result is often a lottery, some first class others were better produced in standard DVD , so the question needs to be asked "why" . I purchased a Blue Ray version of Zulu, i bought the standard DVD years ago and it is not bad, so when the chance to upgrade to HD was presented to me I purchased it. When I checked it out I thought I was sold a pirate it was ## the worse copy I have seen. I guess if you are viewing it on a 20 inch monitor you might get away with it, but I doubt it, but to present it on a large screen forget it so what are these people doing. Take into account it would have been shot on 35 mm though film does loose its edge over time if not stored correctly, but I feel some producers are doing the old trick where in the past a film was on video then upgraded to DVD by using the same master presented originally just for video bandwidth so what you end up with is a DVD copy of a video. It looks like they have a DVD copy played with the high frequency retouched while transferring it to Blue Ray, if that's the case they will soon be out of business , nobody is that daft to except this, already there are comments about this film because of this , let's hope we do not get anymore of these released to the public and we can look forward to seeing old releases as they were in the theatre in our homes. Just because a old film seems to be cheaper to purchase , I feel we would be happy to pay extra to get what we expect.Read full review

Excellent historical movie of a Great British Battle where a handful of our Army kept at bay, over 2000 Zulu warriors at Rork's Drift. South Africa. Plenty of action and thank God I did not give up my life as many did in a previous defeat where over 1,800 British Army recruits were massacred, and died in battle with The Zulus. However, in Zulu you experience BRAVERY & Determination and The British Army method of thee lines of men awaiting orders first line fire, then second, then third! Brilliant strategy!!
