THIS IS THE FOLLOW UP TO KOREAN SOLDIER HORROR R-POINT, BOTH MADE BY KONG SO CHANG. ALTHOUGH R-POINT IS SUPERIOR IN EVERY DEPARTMENT THIS FILM DOES HAVE ITS MERITS. AN ARMY SQUAD IS SENT TO GP506 TO FIND OUT WHY COMMUNICATION HAS BEEN LOST AND TO RETRIEVE THE COMMANDERS SON WHO IS STATIONED THERE. ON ARRIVAL THEY ARE MET BY A LONE BLOOD SOAKED SOLDIER HOLDING AN AXE AND STANDING OVER A DOZEN SLICED AND DICED CORPSES. IT IS LEFT TO A DOCTOR AND A MILITARY POLICEMAN TO FIND OUT JUST WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED - AND THEY ONLY HAVE ONE DAY TO DO IT BEFORE THE POST IS DECOMMISSIONED. ON THE PLUS SIDE THERE IS A LOT OF GORE AND MYSTERY, ON THE NEGATIVE ARE THE CONSTANT FLASHBACKS WHERE IT IS REALLY CONFUSING TO TELL IF IT IS REAL TIME OR PAST TIME BECAUSE DIFFERENT SOLDIERS SEEM TO POP UP AND DIE ALL OVER THE PLACE !?! IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN R-POINT, GET THIS FIRST THEN GET R-POINT, IF YOU HAVE SEEN R-POINT ALREADY DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS AS YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.Read full review
Looking forward on some dark wintry evening to watch a good DVD as this one tells me i am in for a treat. The Ole Codger.
as this is the Asian version of the European film Outpost i wanted to compare the two. It would seem someone borrowed the idea of the other and linked them to the opponents of the second world war in their zone of the world. I.E. Japanease - Pacific Zone - Nazis -European Zone. Both films have similar chair rocking endings with question marks over - is this the end or begining of another grisley cycle ?The film Guardpost , was cheap and readily available so i bought it, and like bothfilms very much. I would recomend this film as a cheap evening in entertainment. If you cant buy it borrow it.
