You like the Lost Boys, right? Who doesnt. This is as if the vampires from that had more hair on their balls and came from the rust belt. Iconic soundtrack and great cast.

As a teenager I was obsessed with the films of Bill Paxton. Since first seeing him in "Aliens" it wasn't long before I'd seen just about every movie he'd ever appeared in. As I have grown up, I no longer rate many of these films as highly as I once did, but Near Dark stuck in my mind as a good horror. Near Dark is not your average vampire film, these vampires are drifters, driving around rural america feeding as they go. No stately mansions or castles, instead the undead book into motels or steal motorhomes. There's not even any fangs on show, with most of the gangs bloodletting done with knives or guns. In all this makes for a quite different horror film, a "modern", (1987), tale of vampire life. Near Dark is no classic, but definately worth watching especially if you are a fan of horror. It's well acted with some memorable dialogue and entertaining throughout. Although violent in places, the movie is quite tame by modern standards with very little gore. I got a copy for less than a fiver, and It's well worth that.Read full review
