The FIG Tree (Garstang) CIC is a social enterprise set up in Garstang, Lancashire which was the first fair trade town in the world. Our mission is to increase awareness of Fairtrade. We run workshops for children and adults, including our signature "bean to bar" chocolate making workshops. We manage The Co-operative House in New Koforidua, Africa's first Fair Trade Town. Nestled among cocoa farms the house is open to visitors to come and stay, spend time with the Fairtrade farmers in the area. We dedicate 100% of our profits to set up and run a tourist cafe and cocoa kitchen where farmers and their families can learn how to make chocolate, cocoa butter cosmetics, food and soap using their own cocoa beans. All the cocoa used in our workshops and professionally made artisan chocolate comes from named farmers who live and work in New Koforidua. We sell artisan chocolate, fair trade products and other items to help raise money for our projects. Thank you for looking at our store.
