the GardenSkill Story
Where we came from, where we are today and where we're going next...
How GardenSkill began with one product
GardenSkill actually started life more than 40 years ago as a rubber moulding company specialising in the automotive industry (at the time we were known as Essential Equipment).
In the early 2000s a company approached us to manufacture a mysterious green ball used in the construction of fruit cages. This turned out to be the well-known Build-a-Ball - one of the UK's most popular gardening products.
How we grew our gardening business
As keen gardeners ourselves, we soon realised that what many gardeners wanted were products like the Build-a-Ball - products that were simple, well-made and "did what they said on the tin". So we started to make not just the balls but the fruit cages to go along with them - tubes, pegs, garden netting, the whole shebang. Keeping the family name, we called it the Build-a-Cage.

- a***a (118)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseArrived as described, the only concern I had was they were just wrapped tightly in cling film, with the mail label stuck on the side , not boxed to prevent damage . The method obviously worked, but just seemed a bit weird
- f***a (58)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThese arrived quickly and were well packaged. I am pleased with them but neither the medium or small item were exactly as described or pictured on the listing or the packaging; both had canvas type green material ends rather than being fully white mesh. This may mean that plants receive less even light if at the end of a row. On a positive, there was a pack of 4 metal pegs in each case, also unexpected, but very useful.
- r***- (542)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseVery good seller to deal with , I made a mistake which I realised after paying , I contacted seller to explain my mistake and they cancelled my order, communication was fantastic between myself and them , now awaiting a catalogue so I get my measurements right , can’t thank this seller enough , their staff are so helpful and friendly , highly recommended.
- i***i (368)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseGood item. Good price. Arrived quickly. Packed so it was easy to use out of the bag. Top eBayer.

- 0***r (411)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThankyou very much, already have a pr of these (both sizes) Lovely in our garden. Box was abit damaged & tape cut through one end on arrival so may be good idea to add extra packing & tape.
