Galerie Darmesin is named after my maternal grandmother, Lucienne Sauve (née Darmesin). She was a milliner in France in the 1920’s and 30’s, then in Chicago after WWII. All the young men of the Darmesin family, including her brother Marcel, were killed in WWI, and nobody lived to carry on the name. Her father, Leon, was a piano and furniture maker in the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris. Leon survived the trenches of WWI but died from kidney failure in 1941 during the Nazi occupation. With help from the French underground, Lucienne made it to Lisbon with her husband, mother, and two babies, where they got boat to New York.
I've been a professional violinist for 25 years: Concertmaster of Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, violin faculty at University of California, Berkeley, and founder of The Bow and the Brush. I've bought and sold music memorabilia on eBay since 2003 and collected fine art since 2009. All pieces for sale are guaranteed authentic and come from my personal collection.
