Received the variac; unit is just as advertised, was promptly shipped after ordering. seems well constructed, especially given the modest price. Very useful to operate from 115Vac and produce 0~300Vac. However, the item was poorly packaged. The shipping box very much beaten, beaten to death. Opened the box, and find little to no cushioning within. Plug it in, and doesn’t work. Ultimate find that the power switch has been broken (safe assumption during shipping). Need to find a better way to pack
